About Eco-Minds
Frequently Asked Questions
It is clear that the challenge of attaining Sustainable Development requires a collaborative multidisciplinary and holistic approach. In particular cases where Science & Technology (S&T) solutions are required, the best and most appropriate S&T must consider the objectives and conditions of the problem, including the social, cultural and economic factors.
Eco-minds, therefore, is a unique activity which aims to bring together the best and most appropriate S&T solutions in a multidisciplinary interaction with the social, economic and management sciences in order to tackle real- world problems.
Eco-minds seeks to strengthen the appropriate use of S&T for Sustainable Development.

- Eco-Minds provides the participants with a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary approach within an international team to solve real-world problems of Sustainable Development.
- If you are a student of science or engineering, you will be able to work with social science and management students to develop the best S&T solution to a given problem.
- If you are a social science student, you will be able to work with science/engineering and management students to predict the social impacts of proposed solutions.
- If you are a commerce/management student, you can work with science/engineering and social sciences students to test the viability of proposed solutions.
Eco-Minds is an exciting experience that replicates the situation that one faces in projects such as an Environmental Impact Assessment or Development Project.
The urgent need of our time is Sustainable Development. Eco-Minds focuses on Sustainable Development in a unique way by bringing together scientists, engineers, social scientists, economists, management experts and others from different countries to work in a multidisciplinary way.
Eco-Minds is a unique forum because it combines a multidisciplinary approach with international participation and problem solving. In addition, the Eco-Minds program exposes the participants to resource persons who are experts in the various aspects of Sustainable Development and includes an educational field trip.
Three selected participants from each country will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Eco-Minds Forum.
The inaugural Eco-Minds Forum will be held on May 31 to June 3, 2007.
By highlighting the multidisciplinary and international approach to the use of S&T for Sustainable Development, Eco-Minds will hopefully spur the youth to think of ways in which S&T can contribute to Sustainable Development. This approach in itself introduces a paradigm for Human Development.
The participating countries will include the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Korea.
They will be announced later.
